How does one make the invisible, visible?
Caitlin Largent is a fine art and documentary photographer from Suffolk, primarily focusing
on her own experience with chronic illness after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2017.
Her work attempts to portray the main symptoms she experiences which are chronic pain
and fatigue, two abstract concepts that able-bodied people struggle to fully understand, the
intention behind this is to create an awareness and understanding of chronic illness as well
as bring attention to the effect this has on mental health. Caitlin’s work is deeply inspired by
other artists tackling the idea of illnesses both mental and physical, such as, Jo Spence, Frida
Kahlo and Tracey Emin.
